Piano Movers in Kansas City
A piano needs a plan, not just extra muscle. Box N Haul helps move upright and grand pianos throughout Kansas City, Overland Park, and the metro with careful handling and clear communication about the route.
Upright and grand piano moving
Whether it is a family upright or a grand that anchors the living room, the shape of the instrument changes the moving plan. An upright's height and a grand's length both affect clearance through your home.
- Upright pianos: share height, width, and depth, along with the make or model if available.
- Grand pianos: include the length and overall dimensions so we can discuss preparation and any disassembly needs.
- Unknown type or model: send photos rather than guess. We can start by reviewing what you have.
Let us know whether the piano is moving on its own or as part of a household move.
Protect the instrument and its path
We review the path from the piano's current spot to its new room, including thresholds, steps, flooring, and narrow openings. Planning the destination matters just as much as getting out of the first home.
- Discuss protective wrapping and padding for the instrument's finish.
- Plan clearance at door frames, walls, stair turns, and landings.
- Confirm any preparation or disassembly before moving day.
Clear loose belongings from the route and remove sheet music and personal items from the piano. Please do not take the instrument apart without discussing the plan with us.
What affects your piano moving estimate?
The estimate depends on the piano and the complete route—not simply the distance between homes.
- Piano type, dimensions, and available model or weight information.
- Stairs at both addresses, including step count, width, and landings.
- Doorway clearance, tight turns, elevators, and the walk to the truck.
- Travel between locations and any preparation or disassembly required.
Helpful photos: the whole piano, its label if accessible, each staircase and landing, narrow doors, and the approach from the parking area. Submit the short quote form first; we can follow up for photos.

Piano Moving FAQs
Do you move upright and grand pianos?
Yes. Box N Haul moves upright and grand pianos. Tell us the type, make or model if known, and dimensions so we can review your particular instrument and route before scheduling.
What piano photos should I send for an estimate?
Start with a full view of the piano and a photo of its model label, if accessible. Include doorways, stairs, landings, tight corners, and the outdoor path at both addresses. Tell us the piano's height, width, and depth; for a grand, include its length.
Can you move a piano up or down stairs?
Stair moves need an individual review. Share the number of steps, stair width, landings, turns, and photos at both locations. We will confirm whether the route can be accommodated rather than assume every staircase will work.
Is tuning included with piano moving?
Piano tuning is not listed as an included service. Arrange any tuning or instrument adjustments separately with a piano technician, and ask that technician about timing after the move.
Can I request help moving a piano within my home?
Tell us the current room and intended location, even if there is no travel between addresses. Doorways, flooring, stairs, and the piano's dimensions still matter. We will review the route and confirm the scope in your estimate.
